Virtual Event Announcement: International Women's Day 2021
Saturday March 13th 2021 at 5:30 PM CST
As part of celebrations, AWOW will be recognizing Isha Khan for her incredible accomplishments, tremendous contributions and vision for the betterment of the community in Manitoba. She is a symbol of pride and joy for us all. It is this recognition that we feel embodies the spirit of the leadership of Winnipeg Women of South Asian descent.
A virtual celebration: Please follow the link and register in advance. This event will be hosted over Zoom. After registering, you will receive a confirmation email containing information about joining the meeting. We will be getting the dinner delivered or curbside pick-up.
Our goal is to “Empower Women” - to increase the spiritual, political, social or economic strength of women, by developing confidence, knowledge, worth, high morale and values in their capacities. We will be honored if you can join us. Your presence will encourage, motivate and empower other women and help them to build bridges across culturally diverse communities.
As of 2020, AWOW is proud to be in its 7th year of operation!
Over the last 7 years, AWOW has successfully brought 16 different communities, performers, artists, dancers and musicians together – reaching approximately 6,000 audience members and participants through 4 major yearly events. Community involvement is key to the success of our goals and we are reaching out to preferred businesses and organizations to be supporters and partners.
Due to the Covid-19 pandemic, all community events and programming have been temporarily suspended in the best interest of our community. We plan to take this time to revisit our goals and mission, and bring even more special events to Winnipeg as soon as it is safe to do so. We look forward to sharing a variety of performances and educational events that highlight the important issues in Asian communities.
A celebration of Heritage and culture together with other communities.
Promoting health and wellness for Winnipeg's vulnerable communities by curating a traditional, home-cooked meal.
A celebration of families, mothers, children and love.
We would like to extend a special thank you to our event photographers for their dedication: Sushil Soni, Avenue Photography and Robert Dearden. If you are interested in volunteering as a photographer at one of our future events, please send an email to - we would love to have you.
